Korean rhinoplasty: how long to stay? 7 to 14 nights
Korean rhinoplasty usually needs 7 to 14 nights in Seoul: surgery on day 1, stitches out and the splint off around day 5 to 7, and the flight home after that visit. TIANA Plastic Surgery performs only rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, and one specialist handles you 1:1 from the consultation through surgery to aftercare, so the surgeon who checks your nose on day 6 is the one who designed it.
By the end of this guide, your questions about rhinoplasty should turn into a clear next step.
Send a front and side photo on WhatsApp and we will reply with a free first assessment. Video consultations with the surgeon are free too.
Send my photos on WhatsAppIf you're teaching English in Busan or saving up leave in Bangkok, the worry is practical: how many days off do you need, and will you look ordinary enough at the airport? Below, the trip runs day by day on the stay plan the clinic publishes, so you can see what each night is for and where a shorter trip starts to pinch.
Before you look at flights, send two things on WhatsApp: the dates you have in mind and a front and side photo of your nose. Writing in English is fine.
What do a video call and a calendar check settle before you book?
Two things come before any booking: an online consultation and a look at the calendar. Consultations run on Google Meet in English, and photos are enough to start. A deposit is discussed only once you decide to book surgery, so asking questions first doesn't lock you into anything.

The calendar matters more than people expect. The clinic is open weekdays 10:00 to 19:00 and Saturdays 10:00 to 16:00, and closed on Sundays and public holidays. Count forward from your surgery day and check that the day 2 to 3 check and the day 5 to 7 visit both land on open days. A Friday surgery, for instance, puts day 3 on a Sunday, so that first check has to fit into the Saturday.
Korean public holidays such as Lunar New Year and Chuseok can close several days in a row. If you're planning around a school break, check those dates first.
Day 1 to day 3: what happens at surgery and the first check?
Day 1 covers the in-person consultation, any tests that are needed, a final check of the design and then surgery. Where the plan involves the bony bridge, a hump or the inside of the nose, a 3D-CT scan shows the bone and nasal passages in three dimensions before anything is decided. An anesthesiologist on staff manages the anesthesia.

The first evening is usually spent in the hotel with your head propped up. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons advises resting with your head raised above your chest after rhinoplasty, and explains that a splint, sometimes with internal tubes, supports the nose early on. A blocked, stuffy nose is expected that night, so a quiet hotel room near Gangnam suits recovery better than a shared hostel dorm.
Days 2 and 3 bring the first check: swelling is assessed, medication is prescribed and aftercare is explained. High-concentration oxygen care, which the clinic uses to support recovery from swelling and puffiness, is part of the aftercare. The visits are short, and the rest of those days are for resting.
Doctor's note
A common question on day 2 or 3 is whether the swelling in the mirror is normal. At that stage swelling tells me very little about the final shape. A fraction of a millimetre changes a face, so I judge the nose once the splint is off and the tissue has had time. Rest, keep your head up, and hold off on judging it in the mirror until later.

Ask which procedure fits meWhen can you fly home after Korean rhinoplasty?
In most plans you can fly from day 7, once the stitches are out and the splint or cast has come off around day 5 to 7. If swelling still bothers you at that point, the clinic suggests adding one or two nights. That's easier to arrange before you buy a ticket than after.
| Day | At the clinic | For your trip |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Consultation, tests as needed, surgery | Land the day before; keep the evening empty |
| 2–3 | Swelling check, medication, aftercare guidance | Stay near Gangnam; short visit |
| 5–7 | Stitches out, splint or cast removed | Book your flight after this visit |
| 7 onward | Departure | Add 1–2 nights if swelling bothers you |
The CDC's medical tourism guidance covers the travel side: flying after surgery raises the risk of blood clots, and recovery is the wrong time for long tours, swimming or sunbathing. If you want to see Seoul, plan museums and cafés for after day 5, go slowly, and bring a hat for the sun.
Seven nights or fourteen: what moves your number?
Scope moves it most. Tip-only work, especially the minimal-incision tip technique, tends to recover faster. Full rhinoplasty, where the bridge is raised with an implant and the tip is shaped with septal, own or donor cartilage, sits at the longer end. So does revision of surgery done elsewhere.
Other things that push a Korean rhinoplasty trip toward 14 nights:
- You'll be in front of a class, clients or a camera the day after you land.
- Your day 5 to 7 visit would fall on a Sunday or a public holiday.
- You're having revision for contracture or for an earlier result you're unhappy with, so the tissue has already been operated on.
- You want time to ask questions face to face after the splint comes off.
A 7-night plan suits tip-focused work, a job you can do remotely with the camera off, and someone who doesn't mind a slightly puffy nose on the plane.
Doctor's note
When leave is limited, wanting the shortest possible stay makes sense. Even so, I'd rather you fly on day 8 than squeeze the splint removal into the morning of your flight. That visit is the first time I see the new nose without the cast. It's also the right moment for your questions, while we're in the same room.
Which risks can change your return date?
Any rhinoplasty carries risks, and some of them change travel plans. Swelling that settles more slowly than you hoped is the ordinary reason to add a night. Less often, the cause is a nosebleed, an infection, trouble breathing because of swelling inside the nose, or a reaction to anesthesia.
Longer term, the nose can heal slightly asymmetric or settle into a shape you're not happy with, and revision is sometimes discussed months later, once the swelling has gone. No surgeon can rule these out.
Some people should wait: anyone whose nose is still growing, anyone with an active infection or an uncontrolled health condition, and anyone whose tissue hasn't settled after recent nose surgery. Whether surgery suits you is decided at the in-person exam on day 1.
If you're choosing between a 7-night and a 10-night trip, send your dates on WhatsApp with one line on whether you've had nose surgery before. A previous operation changes how much time to plan for, and you'll hear which end of the range fits your case before you commit to flights.
What do the weeks after Korean rhinoplasty look like back home?
For most people, major swelling settles within about 1 to 2 weeks, and the nose usually starts to look natural at around 3 to 4 weeks. Full rhinoplasty and revision take longer. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons notes that the final contour can keep refining for up to a year.
Two practical points for the flight and afterward. Before you leave Seoul, ask for copies of your surgical records, as the CDC recommends for treatment abroad, so a doctor at home can see what was done if you ever need care there. Also protect the nose from knocks for a while: crowded trains, a toddler's head, a basketball at the gym. At the day 5 to 7 visit, ask when contact sports and glasses are fine again after your type of surgery.

What should you send before you pick dates?
The clinic's English page lists the procedures, from tip work to revision, and introduces Dr. Choi. When you're ready, open WhatsApp and send three things: your possible travel window, a front photo and a side photo taken in daylight, and one sentence about what bothers you about your nose. You'll learn whether that window covers the day 5 to 7 visit, how many nights to book, and whether your goal sounds like tip work or a full rhinoplasty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1Can I fly home 5 days after a nose job in Korea?
Stitch and splint removal falls around day 5 to 7, and your flight should come after that visit. A 5-night stay leaves little margin, especially for full rhinoplasty or revision.
Q2Do I need to speak Korean for rhinoplasty in Seoul?
No. TIANA Plastic Surgery consults in English on WhatsApp and Google Meet, and photos are enough to start the conversation before you travel.
Q3Is the clinic open on weekends?
The clinic is open weekdays 10:00 to 19:00 and Saturdays 10:00 to 16:00. It's closed on Sundays and public holidays, so make sure your follow-up visits fall on open days. The clinic is at Bongeunsa-ro 108, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Q4Will the same surgeon see me after the operation?
Yes. Dr. Choi Hang-seok handles each patient 1:1, from the consultation through surgery to aftercare. The surgeon who planned your nose also follows its recovery.
Q5When can I go back to work after rhinoplasty?
For a desk job, a common plan is to return once the splint is off and accept some visible swelling. Major swelling settles within about 1 to 2 weeks for most people. Physical or contact-heavy work needs longer, so ask about your case at the splint-removal visit.
